About Presentation
I would just like to say that the presentation took a lot out of me. I am just so tired of re-sizing images. Does anyone know how to resize images in bulk?

Access
The slogan for ACCESS is: "ACCESS Distance Learning providing Classrooom Courses and Teachers via Technology". ACCESS stands for: "Alabama Connecting Classrooms, Educatiors, & Students Statewide. It is a free program provided for all Public High schools in Alabama. The program includes web-based, interactive video conferenceing and blended methods of delivery. It also offers a very wider variety of courses, to include Advanced Placement courses.
There are many ways in which ACCESS helps high schools. It offers remediation courses which help prepare students to pass the exit exams. It also offers core courses as well. That way, if a student fails a course, they can make up the credit by using access, or attend summer school through access to pass the course. That way, students can graduate on time. In my opinion, ACCESS is great and it is still a work in progress, that will bring us many more features and tools to use in the future.

How I might use ALEX
I know that I will definitely be using the ALEX website when I become a teacher. For Starters I will use the site to define my course of study for the lessons I plan to teach. I will also probably view the lesson plans available when creating my own to use as a reference.
I will also use all of the web links so that I can stay up to date with the technology initiatives and to be able to find answers to the many questions that I know I will have as a new teacher. I will also definitely use the professional education tool in order to stay updated, on edge and be able to further my own education as well.

ALEX and the resources available to teachers
ALEX stands for "Alabama Learning Excellence". The ALEX website offers many valuable resources to teachers. Such as: proper course study guidelines for all grade levels, teacher, student and administrator web links to tremendous amounts of information, lesson plans, a workspace to create your own lesson plans and professional learning for teachers to expand their knowledge and stay updated on the current news and techniques.
The ALEX website also has very useful links included on the site, such as the thinkfinity website which also offers a variety of useful tools to teachers. I believe that if and when teachers use these sites they greatly broaden their horizons as educators. Now that I have discovered these sites, I don't see how I could live without them as a teacher.

My google presentation plans
I plan to do my google presentation on my family, especially my daughter and my love of photography.
Who I Am
Hi. My name is Kimberly Segler. I am an elementary education major at the University of South Alabama. I am also a photographer and a mother of one. My baby is twelve weeks old now. Her name is Kayleigh and she is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. She has lots of curly brown hair and she is always happy (Unless she is hungry! She will scream bloody murder until you pop that bottle into her mouth!). I am married to a wonderful, handsome man named Nick. He and Kayleigh mean more to me that anything. I enjoy scrapbooking, karaoke and taking photos. I also enjoy reading books, but only if they have to do with photography or babies. I would like to learn how to make candles and how to water ski. So if anyone wants to teach me, I'm all for it!
"Did You Know" blog
Speaking of "Did You Know", I did not know that this blog had to be posted by yesterday. I meant to do it the other day, but my wireless card on my laptop decided that it wasn't going to work anymore. Which brings me to my reaction of the movie. I can't believe how far behind I am on homework, just because of one tiny little piece of technology! However, because that little piece of technology decided not to work anymore, it made my life a whole lot harder. Having to drive to a computer lab to do my homework while my husband tries to fix the Internet was not my cup of tea. Especially since gas is $3.00 per gallon.
Also, I barely even remember how to actually use a phonebook because of the "anywho" website. It is faster for me to look a number up online than to open a phone book. Plus, my laptop takes up a lot less space than a phonebook. So rather that having to pay information for a number, I just picked up my cell phone and called my mother to get the number. Which, thinking back to when I was a kid, it seemed like you were almost rich if you even had a car phone. Now, car phones are even hard to remember because cell phones are so mobile. I wouldn't even have a land line if my dsl modem didn't require it. I don't even use my home phone even though I pay more for it per month than I do my cell phone. Everyone has a cell phone these days, from five year olds to my great grandmother.
However, even though my great grandmother can use a cell phone, no matter how hard I try, I cannot teach her how to use a computer. It is impossible. Which leads me to the question, when I am a grandmother, am I still going to be living in the stone ages? Will I be able to even learn how to use modern technology in the future? Or will I be left in the dust like she is? I'm not sure, but I do know that while watching cartoons with my three month old baby, I realized, when I was a kid, they didn't have cartoons like they have today that teach you all kinds of things. Who needs preschool these days when all you have to do is sit your baby in front of the television? And they even have computer games and video games for babies who are six month old. I would've never dreamed of that, because I didn't get my first computer until I was in the eighth grade. But now I honestly can't function properly without it, and especially without the Internet. In my opinion, there is no use for a computer if you don't have the Internet these days.
So seeing the video makes me wonder.... what will I not be able to live without in the future? I have no idea, but I just hope I'm ready and that I can handle it. Most of all, I really hope that they come out with a very affordable and efficient way of transportation that doesn't include gasoline pretty soon. I can't afford these gas prices much longer!!!
